How To Start Partnering With Brands as an Influencer

I fell into the influencer realm by accident.

I didn’t even know I could actually make a living out of this when I started. I’ve always just had a passion for sharing my life on the internet - my favorites & not-so favorites, my travels, my daughter’s favorite things, my rants, struggles, wins, etc. And the next thing I knew, people were interested in what I had to share. It’s a very public life, so you have to be prepared to show face because your influence and your uniqueness is what the brand is really paying for. It’s a bonus if you are an amazing content creator.

So I guess my biggest advice is to be brave enough to put yourself out there. I know this is so cliché, but you just gotta start. Start posting. Start sharing. The more times you do a certain thing, the easier it gets. Be confident in who you are and in your work, then the work will come. If it doesn’t come, follow the other tips I listed below:

1. Create a blog or website if you haven’t already.

If you do have a blog, start writing consistently! Brands value SEO a lot and your blog post about them will help push their brand and products to consumers searching online.

2. Have a cohesive IG feed.

Treat your Instagram as an online portfolio. When brands look for influencers to partner with, they usually go on IG to search, and they would pick people who are able to photography and write about their products well.

3. Tag the brands that you use in your posts.

One way to get noticed by a brand you really love is to show them you love them by posting about them.

4. Reach out!

Find their PR contact and pitch to them why they should partner with you. Also, make sure your email address is in your contact pages and Instagram bio too.
